Poetry – "The Birth of Indifference" #NaPoWriMo Day 19

Day 19:

“The Birth of Indifference”
by Jennifer Patino

Lady, do you remember
the pink frosted birthday
cupcake we stole
from that party we
passed in the park?

How about crashing
that wedding? Using
psychic powers to
entice those bow-
tie clad lads in the dark?

Life threw bad hands
at you and you played them
and lost every time.
Games were your vice.
You had no regard for winning.

I came along for the ride.
Though it’s been ages,
I’m still a thorn in your side.
I recall how saintly
you looked while sinning.

Lady, I have a pierced
chest with your name
on the hilt. I twist
it out of habit
when I’m missing you.

How about we never
run into each other
again sometime? Cutting
you off won’t stop the
bleeding but it’ll do.

Author’s Note: I did the optional prompt again today, a creation story. Every thing that fails has a beginning somewhere. A beginning of the end is what this piece portrays.
