#NaPoWriMo Day 3: “Drought, Desperation”

drought

Drought, Desperation // by Jennifer Patino

I sit, twiddling my thumbs
in a dark corner of this
desert glitter city
while wordly engineers
bust out
new contraptions,
fueling distractions,
and oh, there it is
again,
that word,
that form:
distraction,
the murderer
of all great poems,
the whisper
in the back
of a mind
devastated
by dehydration,
never sated,
craving
intellectual
saturation,
planning escapes
on a new blank page,
closing the drapes
on the cacophony,
tapping pen in hand,
daring the dust storms
to come and put a stop to me.

  1. Arrrgh the D-word!

I have started listening to productivity podcasts while doing the housework to try and motivate me to get my works out… probably a 40% success rate, I keep looking the speakers up on YouTube afterwards… 😉

    Great poem x
