  1. Jennifer,
    on your 35th birthday
    and the days after
    when you find yourself
    getting battered
    by tests
    remember
    even if they don’t
    give you headphones
    your playlists always
    exist in your head
    and your heart
    and soul
    so play your favorites
    louder than the
    machines
    louder than the
    pains
    louder than
    the screams
    until you see
    yourself dancing
    free from the
    constraints
    of the restricting
    devices
    and hear yourself
    sing
    free
    twirling away
    from here
    and soaring
    on hidden wings
    until you feel
    safe enough to land
    again
    may you never
    have to do it
    again

    Happy birthday
    from a fan ❀

      1. Gratitude helps me stay grounded. If I only focus on how awful I feel every day, I’ll lose it. Sure, I have moments where I can’t take it, & start lamenting. Then I just write it out. Try to turn it into something else.
